In childhood the Second Born has to cope with a First Born who is trying to take attention away by being superior. Whatever the Second Born does the First Born does it better. The First Born wins at every competition. And, the First Born makes the Second Born feel stupid by playing on his or her gullibility.
Out of self-defense, the Second Born turns skeptic. Throughout life, the Second Born looks suspiciously at every new idea in case someone is trying to make him or her look gullible. If there is any hint of this intent the Second Born attacks an idea with gusto, cutting it down with impeccable logic. "Can't let someone make a fool of me again!"
Being gullible makes a person feel stupid. The opposite should be true. The person who is gullible is intelligent enough to figure out how something off-the-wall could be true. Some really intelligent people are really gullible.
Every Birth Order can experience being made to look gullible. It's the Second Borns who battle with it for a lifetime - until they realize what's going on!
